 In 1998, radiation oncologist Jeffrey Long and his wife Jody began their research project on near death experiences. Through nderf.org (Near Death Experience Research Foundation), Jeff and Jody have gathered thousands of first-hand accounts of NDEs from all over the world. In addition to sharing the personal narrative of their experience, visitors to the site who wish to share their NDE are asked to fill out a 100 item questionnaire designed by Dr. Long in order to isolate specific elements of the experience and to red flag any possible counterfeit accounts. Currently the nderf.org database contains over 1600 legitimate NDE accounts, far more than any other NDE research database in the world. The NDErs span all age groups, races, religious affiliations and come from all over the world, and yet the similarities in their stories are as awe-inspiring as they are inexplicable.

The new scientific data presented in Evidence of the Afterlife is generated from the nderf.org database that can compare and contrast common elements and calculate the percentage of occurrence of common experiences for hundreds of individual “experiencers.” Dr. Long breaks down his evidence into nine categories, such as the remarkable consistency of the details of NDEs around the world, the accuracy of the life reviews that occur during NDEs, and the transformational effect these experiences have on the lives of those who have them.

Written in an authoritative, but easily accessible voice, Dr. Long’s groundbreaking book presents the findings of the NDERF Study and shares first-hand accounts of those people who have died and lived to tell about it.

Jeffrey Long, M.D. is a physician practicing the specialty of radiation oncology (use of radiation to treat cancer). Dr. Long has served on the Board of Directors of IANDS (International Association for Near-Death Studies), and is actively involved in NDE research. In August of 1998 the non-profit Near Death Experience Research Foundation and coinciding website (nderf.org) was established by Dr. Long and his wife Jody to open up a forum for people from all over the world to share their personal experiences as well as a controlled environment in which to collect scientific data on this phenomenon. The website generates over 400,000 unique page views per month and has generated the largest known database of individual NDE experiences.
